Automated Appraisals
Posted By: OurBroker - 12/16/1999 12:30 PM
Hi --
Thanks for your note.
I am aware of automated appraisals and -- for many of the reasons you cite -- am not thrilled by them.
I think both lenders and consumers are better served by having an actual human visit a property, examine the interior, walk the grounds, and provide an independent estimate of value.
The issue, as I point out, is not whether it is done but whether valuing homes without seeing them is a good idea. I think not.
All the best.
