Does HUD's Homebuyer Protection Plan Hurt the Real Estate Industry?

Ironic, but no problems

For the past two years I have not done a single FHA loan. So it is ironic that the moment the rules at HUD change that I have not one but three clients best served by getting FHA loans. Although two of the three situations were somewhat complicated, the buyers and I had NO problems whatsoever. And two of the three houses were older (1940's and 1950's).
I had been given assurances by loan officers that I trust that really little had changed with FHA and I found them to be correct. It seems in my limited experience, that it has been more of a clarifying role. It helped for me to review the guidelines so I knew what was being looked at.
Too often we hear something is bad and take a rumor and run with it as if it were the voice of God. I'm glad I didn't let this happen here even though my first thought was to not work with such loans. I did my homework and saw it may be more a case of working out some glitches as with any loan program. And HUD seems to be responding to our concerns.
Things turned out just fine for me. Be open minded and think for yourselves.
