Instead of this issue being called "Broker Reciprocity," it might better be called "Broker RESPONSIBILITY."
Department of Justice (DOJ) investigations of NAR and Homestore.com are founded on facts which point to "gold alliance" contracts entered into with large MLS, franchise and brokerage organizations which actually worked against the best interests of Sellers (who had employed them to provide maximum exposure ot their properties in the marketplace).
Restricting exposure of Sellers' properties in the internet markeplace, or from being advertised (free) on non-listing brokers' web sites, is an obvious disservice to Sellers. NAR decided in May: Associations of REALTORS and their Multiple Listing Services are encouraged to immediatily, and *must* by January 1, 2002, enable MLS participants to display on Participants' public websites aggregated MLS active listing information ..."
