I think fee for service will be a good thing for our industry. I've already been successful with a "commission menu" based on what people want me to do. I have one rate that is a deluxe package and costs the most, a second that is my usual, and a discount rate based on one of two things; either a non-refundable upfont portion of the reduced commission or an agreement to either buy their next home from me or let me refer them to an agent in the city where they're moving and collect a referral fee there. I like the discount plan best of all because I either get several hundred dollars in cash upfront or a guaranteed sale or referral fee.
