Oklahoma. Called The Sooner State For A Reason!!

Oklahoma is known as "The Sooner State" for more than one reason. Today, some might say that the Oklahoma Real Estate Commisison would "Sooner" try to outlaw competition than to allow it to exist.
It will be interesting to see how the related Oklahoma Real Estate Rules and Regulations will read. The Rules and Regulations are the tools that the real estate commission uses to fine tune the state statute. Typically, the rules and regulations can not go beyond the scope of the law.
Typically, the rules and regulations must be put out for public notice and comment for a certain number of days before the rules become effective. Since the new statute goes into effect in about 70 days, it is safe to assume that the rules and regulations have been written, and the commission is waiting until the last minute to file them for public comment.
The new statute does not address what happens if a real estate licensee dares call himself or herself an agent, or if he or she advertises that they are offering agency level services. It will be interesting to see if the Real Estate Commission feels it can get away with expanding the statute to forbid agency relationships in Oklahoma.
