E-Quicksand- I'm sinking!!!
Posted By: artmomper - 04/17/2001 04:07 PM
Well, these latest revelations- about Homestore, and Cendant and Bank of America- add to my dispair about the current state of e-commerce opportunities in our industry. Few have embraced the possibilities provided by the internet more eagerly than I! I have followed learned advice from 'experts' and invested in web sites with Websuites, and Homes.com, and have over $1000 a year being bled from me by Realtor.com so they can use my listings to draw people to their site so they can charge me more and more for more "modules", and share the profit with my competitors!? Oh, yeah, and the other two web companies are bankrupt! Who knows if they survive. So, everywhere I look, I see bodies strewn on the e-tailing battlefield, and I recognize all of them! I remember a kinder-gentler time when I thought the internet might help reduce my overhead while increasing my business. HAH. With all this fallout in the web industry, we field troops need our association to provide a stable, dependable, neutral internet opportunity- AT AN AFFORDABLE PRICE. My listings are the good kind- multiple photos, tours, - all the good stuff consumers like. It's truely a "privilege" to pay so much to provide rich content for which I receive very little return.
