Honesty Questioned?
Posted By: Discarded Employee - 04/10/2001 12:28 PM
I am a former Homes.com employee. My job was to contact Brokers and set up meetings with the EMCs (E marketing Consultants). I have no business posting here except to 'clear' the names of those who were on the front lines. We believed in what we were doing. To our knowledge, we had the BEST product available, and yes I did investigate what was being offered as well as those I was 'sending out' to meet the various brokers. My job was to build relationships based 1. On a terrific product and 2. On the reputaion of those consultants I worked with. The reputations of the FOUR EMCs that I scheduled for were impecable and should remain so. I have since continued the relationship with numerous brokers that I had been in contact with, some because we became good 'phone buddies' and a few others because as someone who BELIVES in integrety I took it upon myself to do 'quality control' calls and followup. I understand the agravation of having been sold something that seems to have fallen short of the goals promised and set, we too had goals and high hopes which were dashed when the job fell out from under us. At NO time did I ever feel like I was presenting a 'scam' (as has been charged here) or that the cameras were busting down the door at any moment. Those that I worked with were to a person, honest, forthright and part of a task that was set to move only forward. Red Flags? I suppose the 'politics' and 'Testesterone Wars' that were evident amongst those struggling for position with in the company were such..but all companies have these 'mgmt. squabbles' and as a lower level employee it was my job to do my job the best I knew how as did those I worked with, every one. I'm not whining about being let go...about the promiss made to me & not kept...that's life in the dotcoms. What I am concerned with is any stain being attributed to hard working honest sales people who are Real Estate professionals...just like yourselves. I speak to you as a salesperson..you are also a sales person, don't forget that part of the mix. You were sold a product in same way you would have sold a house, hopefully with full disclosure as best as can be known. If a couple of years down the road some termites show up....
I'm ok..unemployed because ANOTHER dotcom went out from under me..since I'm not upper level mgmt. I'll find another fairly quickly. I'm good at what I do and I do it with total honesty and conviction. Please understand..there were many others like that aboard Homes.com. These people are still Real Estate professionals and no stigma should be attributed toward them unless you know from personal experience you were had by a dishonest person. Homes.com discarded me..so be it. But the company was not created to fail and most of us who worked there did not contribute to its failure. We were and are still the best at what we do. The termites did not leave with me.
