Right on, Peter!
Web Sites by themselves are worthless. Unless part of the agent or office marketing plan includes generating traffic to their site, they are wasting their money.
I think NAR and realtor.com are doing a disservice to their members and customers by stressing how many listings they have, how many visitors they have, etc. The sales pitch goes like this - build the web site and they will come.
Well that's just not true. When a broker or agent first set up shop as a real estate practitioner did they just hang out their shingle, sit back and wait for customers to walk in. Of course not - and the "e-agent or e-broker" is no different. You just don't hang up shingle.com and expect millions to beat a path to your e-door. You've got to market the heck out of it.
And even more importantly do not abandon the successful marketing techniques you have used in the past - the Internet will not replace everythig that you did in the past - and if it works don't scrap it.
