Response To: What If My Web Site Goes Black - Part I? (Blanche Evans - 03/28/2001)

Solutions For Sites Going Dark
Posted By: raf - 04/11/2001 03:40 PM

With the decimation of the ranks of dot.com suppliers, many of my clients have faced problems similar to the ones described by Ms. Evans.

One of the solutions I've seen to this problem is to sign up with a service that imports pages and automatically creates a template of the page. This allows a novice user to maintain their page easily. Most of these services also offer a specific domain name and host the page as part of the fee.

The company I would recommend is Register.com (http://www.register.com Nasdaq RCOM). It not only does this as a service but also markets the software so that associations can offer custom "rescue" services to their members.

The group that handles this is not the normal Register.com retail group but a specialized group referred to as Indirect Support. Hope this helps.
