REALTORS NEED TO HELP PROTECT THEIR CLIENTS PROPERTIES
Sorry to sound so harsh in the title, but I get perturbed, when realtors throw a vendor box on a home, and give the number to the public and tell them to "check it then call me back." Especially on rentals. I have noticed this on several occasions when people call me to see a property, then get annoyed when I won't give them the lockbox code. Realtors, I'm sorry but if you are to lazy to show a property, then get out of the business. If you have too many listings, and cant provide a fiduciary, to your client, then refer it out. And please, if you show a property with a vendor box, please don't let the client look over your shoulder, and memorize the number, or give then a copy of a MLS report with the number on it. This is why so many appliances and fixtures are getting stolen in these vacant REO properties! Folks things are getting crazy here- have your realtor do his job, or call me or one of my agents. It might be an idea if possible to to keep the property alarmed, but I know that isn't always economically feasible in this market, but it might be a good idea if you have seen the disaster's I've came across lately. I would also talk to your neighbor, and give them your number and your realtors number, and see if they can keep an eye on it. Finally, choose your realtor wisely, it seems some in the industry have even been involved in the thievery as well.
