Location Characteristics: The Tucson Foothills are located on the north side of Tucson and are known as the "Catalina Foothills". Probably the most prestigious area in Tucson, it offers the best views of the city. It is home to most of the better known resorts and golf courses in Tucson. La Paloma, Canyon Ranch, Ventana Canyon, the Westward Look and Tucson National are all found nestled in the Catalina Foothills.

General Information on Tucson--
Tucson is located in the Southeast section of Arizona. It is a valley surrounded by four mountain ranges, the largest being the Catalinas to the north. Tucson is in the middle of the Sonoran Desert and is almost completely surrounded by National Parks and protected areas. Wildlife and natural beauty are everywhere.

The weather is excellent here in Tucson with about eight months of nearly perfect conditions, sunny and cool. The other four months range from quite warm to very hot. Pollution is very minimal to almost non-existent. The mountains provide ample entertainment for hikers, bikers, camping, and off-roading. They also provide a nice cool escape from the summer heat. One can drive up the mountain and reach 9000 feet in the midst of pine trees in about 45 minutes. A cute little mountain town called Summerhaven and a Ski Resort are near the top.

Bicycling and Golfing are probably the two sports that Tucson is best known for, and the city caters to both. At last count, Tucson now has 38 golf courses.

Tucson has grown tremedously in the past ten years and now accounts for over 900,000 people. Very large malls and shopping areas exist in the more populous parts of town and new construction for both businesses and residential projects continues strong.

About Greg McCown:
When he was just 9 months old Greg McCown moved to Tucson. His family started out right near the University of Arizona. After a few years his family moved just a few miles east. From then on, each time his family would move, it would be further east. By age 11, Greg was living less than two miles from the end of Speedway up against the Rincon Mountains. During those years he spent a lot of time out in the desert enjoying the beautiful trees along the Tanque Verde wash, the natural swimming pools in Sabino Canyon, and the off-road activities in Redington Pass. Greg especially loves the mountains. He has spent many days and nights camping, hiking, skiing, and occasionally repelling in the Catalina Mountains.

At age 21 Greg met the girl of his dreams. Misty lived in the East Phoenix area at the time. In following his dream Greg moved up to Mesa, Arizona, and in March of 1995 they were married. About three months later, Greg found another love in the form of real estate. Both his parents had successfully sold and invested in properties in the Tucson area for many years. Within six months Greg and Misty had purchased a four unit apartment building and moved into one of them after fixing it up. After three more years which included two beautiful children, lots of college, and plenty of smog and traffic, Greg convinced Misty to move their family back home to Tucson.

They began their search for a home on Tucson’s east side, quickly finding a small home with a guest house near Camino Seco and Speedway. Greg fixed up the house and moved his family down from Mesa. A few months later he sold the property in Mesa and began investing in properties in Tucson. From that point on Greg has fixed up several properties, selling some and keeping others as rentals. During this time Greg and Misty had a third child. Brandon is now the oldest at age 9, Jessica is 6, and Megan is 4. Greg's first priority is to his family, spending virtually every spare moment with them. From soccer and piano practices to church and family activities Greg enjoys every moment he has with the ones most special to him.

When Greg first started a career in real estate his primary motivation was for investment. However, he found that he truly enjoyed helping others in the process of buying and selling real estate. Even after obtaining an MBA in May of 2002, Greg found that any new career would not be as fulfilling as the one he had come to enjoy so much. In recent times Greg has come to specialize in income properties and homes on the east side. The area he has grown to love the most is mainly east of Craycroft, north to the Tanque Verde Valley, and all the way out to Vail. Amazingly, this is right where Greg grew up.

So when you’re ready to buy or sell your next income property or home in the East Tucson area, call Greg McCown at 520-907-6760 for friendly, professional service. He knows and loves Tucson and can help you in making that next move a complete success.
