Desert Hot Springs median sales price for March 2012 was in positive territory, according to DataQuick. The median was $97,000, up 3.2% from last year.

Distressed property sales accounted for 50.0% of the sales. For 2012, the market in general is improving with higher sales, lower inventory, prices rising in desirable neighborhoods, and fewer foreclosures for investors to find.

In Riverside County sales volume was down 2.3% compared to last year with 3,756 homes sold. The median sales price for March 2012 was $200,000, up 1%.

The total of new and resale houses and condos that closed escrow in Southern California in March was 19,953, up 2.8% from a year ago. The median sales price was $280,000, flat from a year earlier.

Some of the ecnomic vital signs have improved lately and that has sparked a renewed sense of optimism in housing circles. Coupled with incredibly low mortgage rates, it suggests 2012 pricing might be at the bottom. The biggest concern remains the high unemployment rates.

This is the time to invest in a beautiful home and maximize profits when the market turns around. Thanks to our strong tourism market, the Coachella Valley economy is different than the rest of Riverside County.

It is true that California real estate appreciates over the long run. As a matter of fact, statistics show the statewide median home price overall has increased by an average of 9% annually since 1970.

ZIP Codes: 92240, 92241

Location Characteristics: Just north of Palm Springs, in the shadow of the Little San Bernardino Mountains, lies Desert Hot Springs, a small community of about 19,386 people marked by its sense of wilderness, hotels, and spas.

Desert Hot Springs was founded in 1913 by Cabot Yerxa, a Minnesota homesteader. It became a city in 1941. Cabot was the first to discover the natural hot mineral water.

Dr. Broue, an Australian chemist and mettallurgist, spent many years traveling the world analyzing curative waters. He analyzed the waters in Desert Hot Springs and found them unique to any country he had ever explored and fit to be bottled and shipped everywhere.

To this day, Desert Hot Springs is blessed with its own pure municipal drinking water. The water is pure snow run-off which the Mission Springs Water District delivers to homes in the area. This system is one of the few in the state where the water is untreated, as constant monitoring shows no traces of anything harmful.

The analysis of this water places it on an equal footing with commercial mineral water like Evian, and it comes out of the tap.

Today, thousands of visitors and "snowbirds" come to the city, taking advantage of the spas -- believed by some to bolster nutrition and improve circulation and relaxation.

Rated by Travel and Leisure magazine as a "Top 10 Favorite Spa in the U.S.", Two Bunch Palms-The Natural Hot Springs Resort and Spa is an exclusive hideaway. This is the perfect place to getaway with the magically tranquil setting and serene environment. People everywhere come to enjoy the curative waters, and to sooth the stresses, relax and rejuvenate.

The first gated country club, Mission Lakes Country Club, is located at one of the highest points of the Desert Hot Springs community. This semi-private club is open to the public for golf, dining, and lodging.

It is boasted as being " The best spot to look across the desert and enjoy the mountain views in the Coachella Valley". Mission Lakes Country Club features a Ted Robinson designed 18-hole championship golf course, beautiful clubhouse, Riveria-style swimming pool, spas, tennis courts, full service restaurant, and an eight-unit Inn.
