If you decide you want to move to the City of Wilmington, its suburbs or the surrounding area, make sure you chose a realtor who is very familiar with the area. I was born and raised in Wilmington and I know the area better than most realtors.

When a house is listed as Wilmington, that does not mean that it is the city itself. Many of the suburbs surrounding Wilmington are also listed as Wilmington.

Each area of the City of Wilmington is almost like a separate sub-division. Depending on where it is, the price of the same house can be subsubstantialy different from one area to the next. Again, make sure you use a realtor who is very familiar with Wilmington.


Location Characteristics: Wilmington is comprised of 2 basic areas. the City of Wilmington and the suburbs of Wilmington.The city of Wilmington is a typical city with a population of over 75,000. It is made up mostly townhouses. Many of the homes are 50 years old or older. Some of these older townhouses have been renovated or torn down and replaced by a new home. Prices range from $50k to $400k depending on the location. Each area of the city is unique and the pluses and minuses in that area determines the price of the house. Suburban Wilmington is outside of the regular city limits. Houses in this area could be townhomes or single family homes. Prices for townhomes range from $100k to $250k. Prices for single family homes start around $150k. If you plan on moving to Wilmington, its suburbs or the surrounding area, you have to be very specific about what type of house you want and where you want to live.
