This compares with 52 homes sold during the same period last year which translates into a 38% increase in the number of homes closed and a 13% decline in the median price (from $155,900 to $135,000). At the end of the month there were 387 homes for sale in the area; 19% of the available homes sold in the last month - this translates into an inventory of 5 months. There has been a 42% decrease in the number of homes available for sale from January 2011 to January 2012 (from 671 to 387).
In January 2012, 2,569 homes were sold in the Tampa Bay area with a median price of $103,000. This compares with 2,330 homes sold during the same period last year which translates into a 10% increase in the number of homes closed and a 18% increase in the median price (from $87,000 to $103,000). At the end of the month there were 17,857 homes for sale in the area; 14% of the available homes sold in the last month - this translates into an inventory of 7 months. There has been a 36% decrease in the number of homes available for sale from January 2011 to January 2012 (from 27,698 to 17,857).
