The land was formerly owned by the famed Mrs. Bertha Palmer who was one of the original settlers to the area. There's a total of 12,000 acres in Palmer Ranch and within those acres are designated wetlands and preserve areas. Sidewalks weave through the entire area and many folks enjoy the shade of the trees while they're walking, biking or roller-blading. There are several different kinds of communities in Palmer Ranch. For example, there's gated Prestancia which are fine homes located on a TPC Golf Course. Stoneybrook, a US Homes community is also gated and a very nice golf course.
