October 2008 Real Estate update for "St Matthews", Kentucky
The total number of homes listed (YTD) are down and the total number of homes sold (YTD) are down compared with last years numbers (2007). The number of homes listed for sale are down 16%. Rates were up a little this past week, 6.1% avg. Home "buying" was down 28.9% compared to last years sales, that's "bad news" means homes aren't selling and fewer homes are coming onto the market, that's "good news".
Hopefully with the new tax break, fewer foreclosurer filings, continuing good interest rates, Fords' plant realignment's plus a major base realignment at Fort Knox, will bring more buyers into the real estate market this year!
There were over 10,200 homes for sale in the Louisville metropolitian area. The time it takes to sell has nearly doubled (days on the market)!
