The 2012 outlook is improving modestly from a very disappointing 2011. In fact…"The L/A area has turned a new housing corner, according to a national trade group. The Feb update of the National Association of Builder's First American Improving Markets Index added the Twin cities metro area for the first time. It's criteria: six consecutive months' worth of improving housing permits, housing prices and employment figures. L-A is the only metro area in Maine on the list of 98 metro areas around the country. L-A hit a low in permits in June 2011 and has grown 16% since, a low in prices in Jan 2011 and has grown 1.4% since and a low of employment in June 2011 and has grown 3.8% since. Material prices have held steady and mortgage rates are around 4%. What a great positive thing for L/A to be seeing increased interest. Right now is a great time to buy, if you can afford it." ( Taken from an article in the SunJournal by Kathryn Skelton,2-16-12 ) Also, there's a rumor that the housing crisis may come to a halt at the end of 2012 as the banks loosen their credit standards and start giving buyers loans to buy homes. The loan to value ratios are also loosening. That's a great sign to see banks and buyers working together to fuel the economy. Look at the inventory of affordable homes we have and give us a call. I am sure we can find just the right one for you Let's keep this trend going.
