The Catawba Valley Association of REALTORs™ data for our four county area's Non-Foreclosure Properties indicates a rise in sales volume for the first 11 weeks of 2012 relative to 2011.

For Eastern Burke County volume however decreased by 6.67 %.

Median Prices of what did sell went up 31.3 % when comparing 2012 to 2011.

Given current active listings of 208 , Eastern Burke has approximately 37.7 Months of Inventory available. Like most areas in the country, Catawba Valley is a Buyer's Market.

Location Characteristics: The Catawba Valley MLS serves the eastern side of Burke County from the edge of Morganton back toward Hickory. The County continues to benefit from NC institutions such as the School for the Blind, and Broughton Mental Hospital. Once a furniture manufacturing county, that aspect of industry continues to fade.

Rural areas have little zoning. Incorporated areas have pockets of affluent homes among a variety of ages, conditions, and prices.
