Statistics from our Multiple Listing Service for the year prior to October depict South Charlotte having 12.1% months supply of homes (-11.8%) with 2,123 active listings (-16.3%). 2,159 homes have closed (-1.3%) in the past 12 months. The Charlotte region is leading the way for economic development in the South, according to Southern Business and Development. The magazine has named the area its 2011 Major Market of the Year. Deals with Seimens Energy, Hewitt Associates and Fifth Third Bancorp, which brought hundreds of jobs, propelled the region to the top spot. Last year the Charlotte region received an honorable mention, its fourth in six years. The magazine called 2010 the second best year for economic development in the South since 1994. Location Characteristics: South Charlotte ranks highest as our area's most desirable place to live. It is convenient to almost everything. This includes schools, shopping, churches, workplaces, hospitals and medical facilities, entertainment, parks, etc. Home prices vary drastically and homes are more affordable closer to the Union County line. Commute time to downtown from within 4-mile inter-belt is 10-15 minutes, whereas commute time from close to Union County line will be 30-45 minutes. We have a wide variety of homestyles, including both resale and new construction, in all locations. Charlotte's winding, tree lined streets are magnificant.
