New Albany is characterized by neighborhoods lined with white fences, golf courses with gently rolling hills and the best educational school system in my opinion. Welcome to my neighborhood!
New Albany offers the community spirit of a rural Village and the amenities and services of a metropolitan suburb. Development is guided by a carefully crafted strategic plan that balances residential, commercial, and recreational land use. New Albany neighborhoods feature "pocket" parks and large areas of open space that incorporate natural environmental features including streams and ponds. New Albany has been the home to many public events including Founder's Day, Fourth of July Parade and Celebrations, Festival of Homes, and the New Albany Classic Horse Show.
Public Education New Albany-Plain Local is a school district in rapid transition. We have grown in the past 15 years from 650 students to over 4,200. Our faculty has increased from 65 to over 275. Our campus in 1992 consisted of three buildings on 12 acres. Today there are eight buildings on over 200 acres. In 1992, our proficiency scores on the Ohio Report Card ranked us in the lowest quartile in Franklin County, as were our salaries. Fewer than 50% of our graduating seniors went on to higher education. In 2008, with test scores currently placing the district in the top 3% in the state, competitive salaries, and a highly talented staff, New Albany is a nationally recognized school district.
Housing New Albany demand is stronger under $250,000, but higher priced homes are soft, especially over $500K. Continued new developments, now suspended or delayed due to the housing market will slow the appreciation rate of existing homes. When considering this area you must be aware of the school boundaries and the Rocky Fork Blacklick Accord plan.
