Currently are market is showing a decline in new listings, which I want to believe will help curve the decline in pricing. The average market time is also decreasing. I am noticing homes priced over $300,000 to be selling at a better rate per inventory than the lower priced homes. Homes under $125,000 seem to have a stronger competition with foreclosures and short sales. In general are market area is down in sales for 2008 by 20% and homes values decreased in the past year about 8%. Short Sales and Foreclosures make up about 20% of our inventory. The average market time is around 9 months.

Ottawa Hills was included in a listing of 1300 high schools across the nation that qualified for the designation. Public schools were ranked according to a ratio called the Challenge Index devised by Jay Matthews, Newsweek contributing editor and Washington Post reporter. Recognized schools are in the top 5% in the nation. Ottawa Hills has qualified for this prestigious list every year since 1998.

A Beautiful Community The Village of Ottawa Hills is beautiful in so many ways. Certainly the mature trees, lush greenery, wildlife, quiet streets and the Ottawa River help create the natural beauty. We're also proud of our beautiful collection of homes, with distinctive character and old world craftsmanship that can never be duplicated. But perhaps the best thing about Ottawa Hills is the strong sense of community. This is no "neighborhood of strangers" like so many new developments. A commitment to excellent schools and parent involvement helped create the basis of this community, which continues long after the last child has left for college. With virtually no commercial area, everything about Ottawa Hills says residential living at its best. Look around. It just might be the right place for you.
From the Village Manager… I'm Marc Thompson, village manager and I'd like to welcome you to our web site. We appreciate the opportunity to "show you around" so you can see what we have to offer. We designed this site to give you a feel for what living here is like. As a resident myself, I believe that Ottawa Hills is one of the best places to live in the Midwest, and we keep working to make it better. I hope you take some time to explore our village. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me by phone or email me using the form below. I would be happy to talk to you about the Village or give you a personalized tour. Thanks for visiting!
