It is a buyers market and a fantastic time to buy a home in the Charleston Tri-county area! The interest rates are low and builders and private sellers in some areas are offering incentives and good price reductions. We still have a solid people driven market but the slow down in other parts of the country has affected our market to the point that it has created what I would call a great buyers market in the Charleston Tri-county area. We have a steady population growth with solid job offerings with new industries moving in.
In real estate the advantage now goes to the qualified buyer. Ready willing and able buyers have a much better inventory to select from along with some great incentives to buy. We have increased competition between the builders with incentives and price adjustments. We also have more resale homes in the inventory to choose from.
The main communities of Charleston, Mt. Pleasant, Goose Creek and Summerville is experiencing a slower market than we have had over the last two years. We are seeing more activity in the second half of 2008 and I forecast the better purchases to be made before year end. People want homes and there are some deals right now. Why wait and miss the boat like you did on Google stock years ago?.
The first step is to select an experienced buyer agent that can negotiate in your behalf, be prepared to shop hard, negotiate and move fast when you find the home you want. Ask for a resume!

About Ron Henderson, Broker:
A native of Kentucky, I entered the U.S. Coast Guard at age seventeen and traveled extensively during my career. My travels included the Artic, Antarctic, Alaska, Hawaii, Fiji, Tonga, Japan, and numerous South American, Caribbean and South Pacific cities and islands. The iceberg experience at the Top and Bottom of the world gave me a great appreciation for the milder climates and I fell in love with the Charleston area during my last career tour. I selected Real Estate as my next career choice. That was 23 years ago and we settled in the bedroom community of Goose Creek. My wife Birdie and I have three children and three grandchildren. My son serves in the U.S. Coast Guard and we still have a 16 year-old daughter at home.
I enjoy working with and representing buyers by using my experience and negotiating skills to save my clients time, money and effort. My buyers are better informed!
