The homes are typically sold "as is" and you get what you get with no warranty. Short Sales add the complexity of Sellers negotiating with Lien Holders. Lenders and other third parties are swamped with loss mitigation issues. The process of dealing with the "bank" will normally take months. If the price is "pre-approved" most of the wait time is removed. It certainly requires attention to details and patience. You should also be aware that half of the short sales fall apart at the closing table. As a Buyer you run the risk of losing your inspection and appraisal expenses.
