The correlation between jobs and the real estate market has caused Arlington County, VA and the DC Metro Area in general fare much better in these difficult economic times than other areas in the country. The 3rd Q real estate market statistics show that while compared to 2010 fewer homes were sold in Arlington County in 2011 (over 10 % less in volume) prices have risen. The average sales price of homes sold from January to September was up 2.9 % countywide, from $537,136 to $552,851. As an active agent in Arlington County I can tell you that we have seen multiple contract situation. My analysis: low inventory and a low absorption rate.
