Even the Catalina Foothills, long sought out as a desirable area to live, both for convenient location and great views, has suffered in this recession. Initially, the Catalina Foothills homes suffered minimal depreciation. In this past year prices have adjusted with the market and now there are great opportunities.
The "high end" market has been hit hard from credit availability, or, should we say, lack of credit! Jumbo loans have been difficult to come by and demand high loan to value down payments. The good news is that we see an opening! New Jumbo Loan programs still require a higher down payment, than in 2005, but their rates are much closer to what a government guaranteed loan (under $417,000) would be.
