Location Characteristics: Maricopa is located roughly 20 miles south of Phoenix and about 20 miles northwest of Casa Grande. Maricopa rapidly changed from a rich agricultural area to vibrant and exciting new city with master planned communities - a city with something for everyone and opportunities for all. Maricopa a city where a handshake is still honored, community involvement is welcomed, and a small town feel is ever present.

The city expects growth to continue at an average rate of 7,200 additional single family residences per-year. As of March 4, 2004, the population of the City of Maricopa was 4,998. Current projections predict a population of roughly 24,000 by the end of 2005 and 185,000 by 2025. Over the next 6-18 months, the City will develop a general plan which is a blueprint for the future of the Maricopa. Maricopa is looking for citizen input in the general plan process and public hearings will be held to solicit such input.
