Location Characteristics: There is a wide-ranging diversity of homes in Tempe. More than 47 percent of its 63,000+ housing units are single-family homes, 52 percent of which are owner-occupied. Multi-family housing predominates the northern part of the city, near the central business district and Arizona State University campus. The city is 39.5 square miles with a population 160,820.

Tempe Elementary schools have been recognized as Arizona A+ and national Blue Ribbon award-winners for their academic excellence. More than 20 free museums and galleries are located at ASU, including the ASU Art Museum which houses a permanent collection of 19th- and 20th-century American art and revolving contemporary art exhibits.

Tempe is home to exciting professional sports, like the Arizona Cardinals and pro beach volleyball competitions, and energetic college sports, such as the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl Football classic, and Arizona State University events.
