Median sales price for La Quinta in June 2009 went down to $360,000 comparing to $ 415,000 last year in the same month, with a sales volume going down to 55 Million from 57 Million last year in June.
La Quinta is part of the national housing contraction but might be better of than the rest of the nation due to it's second home market and strong Canadian clientele. The Valley price decline continued in June 2009 but the number of sales, not sales volume, went up due to all the sales of "Bankowned" properties. The inventory however is the lowest since 2007.
Builders were ahead of many in the real estate industry at adjusting their activities in light of the changing market. Builders start to run out of standing inventory after slowing down their production and will come back when the market comes back. A lot of the deals we are seeing out there will start to go away - now is a fantastic time to buy and a home in a great location in the middle of our east growing valley like La Quinta will still be a good long-term investment, even if housing prices don't increase at the same pace anymore.

ZIP Code: 92253 Location Characteristics: La Quinta, this quiet city's name derives from the Spanish term for "fifth," which took on new meaning when used by early explorers, who often traveled for four consecutive days before resting on the fifth. Over time, "la quinta" became synonymous with a resting place or a place of retreat in the countryside. Point Happy, a rocky outcropping near the intersection of Washington Street and Highway 111, was once a travelers' watering hole and the original "resting place" of La Quinta. La Quinta has grown from a tiny sleepy village to one of the fastest-growing communities in the Coachella Valley, dominated by championship golf courses such as PGA West, Silver Rock (which hosts the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic golf tournament) and one of the area's largest leisure complexes. La Quinta Resort & Club opened in 1927 as a quiet getaway destination for big names in Hollywood and business.
