We are, without a doubt, in a Buyers market. We don't know how long it will last but here are a few Words for fence sitters: For those who do not own a home - Now is the time to buy - good bargains out there; financing available for those with good credit. No need to be paying off someone else's mortgage if you can get one of your own Don't try to time the market - it will turn, we don't know when. Don't miss out on today's Buyer's Market.
For those who do own a home - facing life changes (expanding or shrinking family & housing needs): Moving up: You will save more on the price declines of the house you buy than you will lose on the value of your current home. People moving up usually spend 50% more on the new residence than the old one - condo to house more.
Downsizing: The decline has occurred. You will save money on new residence. Think in terms of other non-price factors: taxes and cost of ownership will be less in new place. Don't try to time market and wait for the value of your house to return to 2005 levels - it will occur; how long do you want to wait?
This is a Buyers Market and the time to buy is NOW.
ZIP Code: 06804 Approximate Location Boundaries: Candlewood Lake and Lake Lillinonah
Location Characteristics: The Parish of Newbury was established with land taken from Newtown, New Milford and Danbury in 1754. In May 1788, by resolution of the Connecticut General Assembly, the parish was given town status and renamed Brookfield. Over the next 200 plus years, the layout of the town has changed several times to become the friendly community we now enjoy.
For many years a small parcel of land that was part of New Fairfield was separated from the rest of New Fairfield when the lake was formed. In 1961 this land was annexed by New Fairfield to Brookfield and is now called Candlewood Shores and Arrowhead Point. This property includes many antique homes in the Kellogg street area.
Brookfield is a growing community with a population of 15,664 (2000 U.S. Census). Instead of one church, there are now many churches of all denominations. There are four schools in the public school system, one private school, and several nursery schools. Many of the historic structures have been preserved and in 1991 most buildings in Brookfield Center's Historic District were named to the National Register of Historic Places.
