Because of the increase of jobs flowing into the Central Valley due to corporate relocations or expansions, prices have remained more stable than in other areas, but the recession has produced many opportunities in this area as well.

Properties such as golf course lots or quality properties near good medical facilities are continuing to sell, as the aging baby boomer population continues to seek a quality lifestyle outside of the US. The pace is slower than in previous years, as in many parts of the world. However savvy buyers are finding very good deals for their long-term objectives.

Costa Rica is a "buyer beware" country however, due to no MLS or licensing requirements. It is wise to get the help of a competent professional and do your own due diligence.

Approximate Location Boundaries: San Jose, and non-coastal areas surrounding San Jose

Location Characteristics: The Central Valley describes those areas that are not right on the coast, but of course have easy access to either the Pacific or Carribean coasts within a few to 5 hours drive.

San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica, has many suburbs and desirable areas, and a purchase in the $150,000 range or up can provide as much value as a $400,000-$500,000 southern California home.

A lot of new construction has occurred over the past year, so here you will find some incredible deals on "developer specials". While the American market is experiencing some declines, the market in Costa Rica continues to appreciate due to increased buying from Europeans and Canadians since their "dollar" is so strong right now

The wildlife and lush landscape and proximity to hospitals, shopping and services, continue to make this area an incredible investment or retirement option.
