In October 2009, 2,843 homes were sold in the Tampa Bay area with a median price of $130,000. This compares with 2,097 homes sold during the same period last year which translates into a 36% increase in the number of homes closed and a 13% decline in the median price (from $150,000 to $130,000). At the end of the month there were 27,275 homes for sale in the area; 10% of the available homes sold in the last month - this translates into an inventory of 10 months. There has been a 28% decrease in the number of homes available for sale from October 2008 to October 2009 (from 38,110 to 27,275).
