Known for its lakes and quality of life, the city of Minneapolis is large and diverse enough to command 11 different MLS areas...each with its own unique character.
The diverse areas include bustling Downtown, the University area, the upscale Chain of Lakes, funky Uptown, the Lake Nokomis area with its affordable bungalows and Minnehaha Creek, the Longfellow area along the Misssissippi River with its trails and easy access to St. Paul.
LRT rapid transit travels between the Nokomis and Longfellow areas and provides easy access to and from the airport, Mall of America and downtown.
The good news is that Nokomis remains a good area for first-time homebuyers and that keeps the market strong. Although still below last year at this time, the number of sales and average sale price has risen each month Jan-Mar this year, and the supply of homes available is considerably below this time last year. With a 6-month supply of homes available it is 'officially' a balanced market, although still more of a buyer's market than one would typically find in this area.
