It might be premature but there certainly are signs that things are beginning to pick up slightly. Most of the doom and gloom prognosticators have made their "quick buck" from selling scare tactics and are having less and less credibility and dwindling following. Optimism seems on the rebound and that was really all we were short! It is still a buyer's market to be sure but with a dwindling inventory (yes I said dwindling, listing numbers locally are down!) that could even begin to turn that tide. Smart investors are picking up properties all over the country! What do they know that you don't? The Wall Street Journal recently mentioned Corvallis as one of the small college towns that fared better than most in the downturn. From their analysis they think we, here in Corvallis, have hit the bottom and lost less than 10% in value. We are poised for a flat market and then slow appreciation after that. Imagine that, The Wall Street Journal even knows we exist!! Interest rates being at a 50 year low certainly can't hurt! Prices are down a little (not dramatic) and it is one of the best times to buy I have seen in my 35 year career!
