Location Characteristics: I grew up in Cranston and enjoy all it has to offer. Cranston has a great shopping center called Garden City and a new upscale outside mall and office park is being constructed adjacent to it called "Chapel View". Highway accessibility is easy both 95 and 295 and it's a 5 minute trip to Providence.

Cranston is centrally located just outside of Providence and close to the airport. It has many great restaurants, Garden City shopping center, Roger Williams Park Zoo, Johnson & Wales University and much more to offer family and businesses.

Located immediately south of Providence, Cranston is a bayside community, an urban extension of Providence and a receding rural retreat from urban life. The variety that is Cranston extends from the colonial port village of Pawtuxet to its central shopping district of Garden City. Residents are proud of the youth programs that have led to a national little league title and the playground and park system that are well located throughout the city. Cranston is easily accessed by Interstate 95 and 295 bisect the city in the eastern and western sections.

Today the City of Cranston is one of the major commercial and industrial areas of Rhode Island. The manufacture of jewelry, food, combined metals and machinery are the largest employers in the city.
The western part of the city is home to new construction and 2 new schools. New construction is competing with the sales of homes

The eastern portion of Cranston is home to Edgewood with its vintage homes, restaurants, and easy access to downtown Providence. It is also home to the 'Edgewood Yacht Club.

According to a news article in the Providence Journal 11/7/2006: "A publishing company that ranks cities according to FBI Crime Statistics recently listed Cranston as the 24th safest city and neighboring Warwick as the 42nd safest". Also, Money Magazine recently listed Cranston in its' annual "Best Places to Live Issue".
