Real estate is, like many other businesses, a cyclical thing. Those cycles are influenced by many factors: The economy, available inventory, interest rates, consumer confidence and many other, sometimes obscure factors.
Owing to the media's unrelenting and frequently misinformed onslaught, consumer confidence is at an all time low.
Unfortunately when the local papers and television blare forth about plummeting prices people tend to believe it to be true.

LET'S TAKE A LOOK!

Available inventory continues to drop, partially from attrition & partially by the withdrawal of some of the overpriced, speculative units that were still hanging around from the boom times.
New building continues, but is beginning to slow down to a less frenetic rate. Interest rates continue to drop and are projected to drop even further.
The economy is in relatively good shape with remarkably low unemployment in the local area and a steady increase in available jobs.
In doing our regular analyses of the market we are still seeing steady growth in home values albeit, not the inflammatory growth of a couple of years ago.
The market has merely made a very necessary correction in order to bring itself into line with normalcy! We can however, certainly concede that a correction after the "Helter Skelter" market of the last few years will take a while to settle down but, is the sky falling in?
The answer is a resounding NO!

Make sure you use a RealtorŪ to represent you, make sure your home is priced right and make sure that it is in the best condition possible.



Location Characteristics: The Isle of Palms continues to be one of the hottest markets on the SC Coast! The IOP location, as a barrier island, offers a quick walk to the beach, a short commute to Mt. Pleasant and downtown Charleston, and about a 1/2 hour trip to Chas. Int'l. Airport. IOP living offers a wonderful quality of life with everything from beaches, water sports, tennis, and golf to arts and culture and great local fine dining!

The climate, still with four seasons but predominately warm, allows an overall comfort level that also contributes to the desireability of the coastal area. IOP continues to experience an influx of people moving into the area, both because of its overall desireability and the positive business climate.
