Afton Oaks continues to be a popular neighborhood based on information obtained from The Houston Association of Realtors. Closing out the 2011 year we find that there were 26 single family homes sold. These homes ranged in price from $289,000 for a 3 bedroom, 2 bath, 2,185 square foot home that was built in 1955 and sits on a 7,345 square foot lot to $1,900,000 for a new construction 4 bedroom, 5 bath, 6074 square foot home on a 10,831 square foot lot.

Currently there are 20 active available homes for sale in the Afton Oaks subdivision with list prices ranging from $245,000 for a 3 bedroom, 2 bath, 1,694 sq. ft. home built in 1957 to $2,500,000 for a 4 bedroom, 6 full and 2 half bath, 7,846 sq. ft. home built in 2011. There are 5 pending properties.

There were no home sales recorded for the month of October in Afton Oaks according to information published by the Houston Association of Realtors.
Based upon information gathered from the Houston Association of Realtors, there were three sales in Afton Oaks in the month of July 2011. All three were newer homes and the average price per square foot was $215.46
Three Afton Oaks homes sold in the month of May 2011 ranging in price from $500,000 for an older 2 bedroom, 2 bath to $639,500 for a 3 bedroom, 3 full and 1 half bath home built in 1952.The average price per square foot was $222.39
Five Afton Oaks homes sold in the month of February 2011. The average price per square foot was $269.26 and all were older homes with 2 to 3 bedrooms.

In September 2010 there were 4 homes sold with prices ranging from $275,000 to $1,335,000 for an average of $260.54 per square foot

Location Characteristics: Afton Oaks is an approximately 50 year old deed-restricted residential community of over 500 single family homes. The neighborhood is bounded on the north by Westheimer Rd., on the east by Union Pacific railroad tracks, on the south by U.S. 59, and on the west by IH-610.
Afton Oaks contains many homes built in the 1950s along with many recently-built homes listed for well over $1,000,000.
Afton Oaks is zoned to Houston ISD schools. Prior to spring 2006, Afton Oaks was zoned to Will Rogers Elementary School. Will Rogers was closed after spring 2006 and Afton Oaks was rezoned to St. George Place Elementary School. Afton Oaks pupils are also zoned to Lanier Middle School in Montrose and Lamar High School in Upper Kirby.
