Location Characteristics: Loudoun County is located between Washington, DC, and the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. The town was formed at the crossroads of two Colonial roads, now Routes 7 and 15, and is the seat of government for beautiful Loudoun County. Leesburg is located just 35 miles northwest of Washington DC, at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Families settle in Loudoun because of its unique character, lifestyle and quality-of-life. Although Loudoun enjoys many of the amenities associated with proximity to Washington Dulles International Airport and Washington, D.C., much of the county retains its rural charm with small, picturesque towns and villages. Because of the proliferation of horse-related activities in the county, many of Loudoun's visitors come to enjoy such events as point-to-point racing, nationally recognized horse shows and the steeplechase.

Loudoun County is also home to many beautiful estates, historic sites, and fine wineries. Other events which attract tourists include homes tours, country and crafts fairs and special Christmas festivities.
