What Does It Feel Like to Be Number One?

Eleanor Mowery-Sheets
What does it feel like to be number one? Eleanor Mowery-Sheets knows. She is not only the top producing REALTOR® of the Dallas/Fort Worth market and the State of Texas, she is the top agent of over 64,000 Coldwell Banker® associates worldwide.

In 1997, Eleanor closed more than $77 million in residential real estate sales, and is already on target to well surpass that figure by the end of 1998.

People who know her describe her as driven. Her customers know her as dedicated. "This is what I love to do," says Eleanor, who began her career 12 years ago as a single parent facing an uncertain future. She was successful almost immediately and steadily built a loyal referral and repeat customer base, but it wasn't until she met and married Nicky Sheets that her career shot through the stratosphere.

A successful West Texas rancher, Nicky showed Eleanor a new kind of teamwork that would help her provide greater customer service while reaching higher and higher sales goals. He took over the management and technology side of her business as she continued with the hands-on "people" side. In only a few years, Eleanor's sales climbed from $14,000,000 to over $77 million annually.

The Sheets team approach enables Eleanor to provide extensive services that are beyond the means of many agents. She maintains a staff of real estate specialists, including a handyman who is on hand to make quick repairs and a decorator to stage homes for presentation. She requests that her sellers have appraisals and inspections done up front to prevent possible problems. All of these extra services are aimed to achieve a "seamless transaction."

"What I am trying to do is put my seller in a position of strength so we don't have to re-negotiate once we're under contract," explains Eleanor.

Eleanor offers unique complimentary post-contract services to both her buyers and sellers. She offers them the use of her personal moving van and hires a chef to cook dinner for them their first night in their new home.

These kinds of services have resulted in a large referral and repeat business, a distinct advantage in Dallas' current tight market.
