Newport, North Carolina's Location Creates Built-in Market, Say Realtors

Located between Havelock and Morehead City and near Cherry Point military base, Newport offers a rural lifestyle with new development and quick access to sandy beaches.

"Newport is bordered on the north by Havelock, on the south by Morehead City, on the west by the Neuse River and on the east by the Inland Waterway, Bogue Sound," says Realtor Nan Simcox. "There is no doubt that Newport lives up to its slogan "The Friendly Town" and if you are looking for a place to call home, this is an easy and comfortable fit for practically anyone! With the laid back life style for which the south is famous, there is minimal traffic, a low crime rate and many opportunities to become involved in local activities and festivals.

She explains, "The Newport "Pig Pickin" is an annual fund-raiser which takes place each year on the first weekend in April. The Mill Creek Oyster Festival is an annual event and there are many other opportunities for volunteers to get involved. There's a wide variety of housing opportunities. This is a rural community with an abundance of farming and fishing and so there are areas of mobile homes, starter houses, established neighborhoods in and out of town, upscale homes on or near one of the many bodies of water and some multi-family complexes."

Add Realtors Llew Ramsey and Elaine Main, "Newport's proximity to Cherry Point military base creates a built-in market. Pricing has been on a steady increase the past few years. The relocation of the F-18 squadron to Cherry Point and the new middle school and proposed new elementary school in Newport is encouraging developers to plan new subdivisions in the area."

"Newport is North Carolina's third oldest town," say Realtors Linda Rike and Ed Daughety. "The seaport features that wonderful coastal climate, with sandy beaches nearby."

They advise," Buy now. Prices are beginning to move upward from $200K to over a million. Newport and the Highway 24 area are great places to live, own a second home or retire to."
