PictureWorks Technology, Inc. announced that it has introduced the world's first digital "real estate camera" with software designed for the newest line of "scriptable" Kodak zoom digital
cameras, strengthening the company's role as the dominant digital photography solutions provider to the real estate industry. PictureWorks also announced that it has signed an agreement with Kodak to become a value-added reseller (VAR) of Kodak's digital cameras.
The new Kodak Digital Science DC220 and DC260 zoom digital cameras
allow users to customize the camera's "scriptable" operating system. Using
these "scripts," users can program the camera to direct them to take the
best possible pictures and achieve the results they desire, whether it is a
virtual tour of a home or a super-wide panorama of an entire neighborhood.
"PictureWorks continues to demonstrate its leadership in the real
estate industry with software that supports the unique scripting features
in the new Kodak Digital Science zoom digital cameras," said Don
Strickland, PictureWorks Technology's president and CEO. "It's an operating
system that literally lets you tell your camera what you want it to do. It
then guides you through the steps to take the best picture and
automatically drops it into the proper program."
The real estate professional can now take pictures and let the
camera automatically build a virtual tour of a home or a super-wide
panorama of an entire neighborhood. The agent can also collect the property
and listing details and create a catalogue or folder of images and
information to better market the property for sale.
"We are introducing this camera with three software programs that operate
on the new scriptable operating platform to give the real estate
professional more control and the ability to pre-program settings and
camera operation," said Lisa Wood, co-founder and vice president of the
Real Estate Business Unit. "These new cameras include our real estate
imaging software, creating the most powerful combination of hardware and
software today. It's the perfect solution for real estate professionals
who want to use digital photography to get images into their e-mail
messages or onto their Web site and ultimately become even more
successful." The scriptable cameras also feature audio input and playback
that lets users record sound with their images, and a video output so users
can see their digital images on a television screen or monitor.
PictureWorks is offering different camera and software combinations
that contain one of the Kodak "scriptable" zoom digital cameras along with
PictureWorks Technology's Professional Real Estate Imaging Toolkit.
PictureWorks launched the digital imaging software industry when it
was founded in 1994, and today supplies software for more than 50% of the
world's digital cameras, and is the world's leading provider of imaging
software solutions aimed at increasing business productivity. It develops
products on both the Windows and Macintosh platforms and has localized its
products into 10 languages for worldwide distribution.
Privately held, the Danville, California based company sells its
products through OEM agreements, direct and retail distribution worldwide.
