Data Warehouse Grows to Powerhouse: Prism Nets Some High Powered Customers
Prism Solutions, Inc (Nasdaq: PRZM - news), a leading provider of solutions to deliver business intelligence applications, today announced that its first quarter business underscores Prism's ability to provide a comprehensive tool set to support the entire data warehousing process. As a result, Fortune 500/Global 1000 companies are adopting Prism's entire product suite, including data acquisition and data quality management tools, vertical applications and consulting services. Hundreds of organizations worldwide use Prism's software tools, methodology and consulting services to rapidly design, build and manage data warehousing solutions that allow quick movement from analysis to action. Prism's customers build data warehouses, data marts and operational data stores to support a wide range of business intelligence applications, including customer relationship management, marketing campaign analysis, profitability measurement, and product and sales performance. Banks and financial services companies use Prism products to build data warehouses to support marketing programs and enhance customer relationships. For example, Beneficial Corporation [NYSE:BNL - news] is a $17 billion financial-services holding company, which offers consumer finance, credit card, banking and insurance services to customers in North America, Great Britain and Germany. Beneficial Technology selected Prism products and services for a credit card data warehouse that will support ad-hoc reporting for merchant promotions and account tracking. Freddie Mac, a government-sponsored secondary mortgage company, is building a tracking system for 19 million mortgages. The system, based on data warehouse technology, will also enable Freddie Mac [NYSE:FRE - news] to address the Year 2000 challenge by replacing two outdated legacy environments. Freddie Mac chose Prism as its data warehousing partner based on Prism's ability to cleanse and transform data from UNIX and MVS environments using meta data-driven rules. This is critical because Freddie Mac's first warehouse iteration involves more than 40 data sources. Freddie Mac purchased Prism's entire suite of data warehouse implementation tools, along with the ITERATIONS(R) methodology to guide the development effort. NationsBank, one of the largest financial services companies in the United States, selected Prism to build a new data warehouse and related data marts that will complement its existing decision support environment. The competitive nature of the insurance industry makes it important for insurance companies to carefully track performance and manage profitability. The Liberty Corporation [NYSE:LC - news], based in Greenville, SC, is a holding company with operations in insurance and broadcasting. Liberty markets life insurance products and provides third-party life insurance administration services. Liberty chose Prism for a data warehouse project that will initially focus on performance measurements for the specialized marketing arm of its Liberty Life Insurance subsidiary. Over time, the company plans to evolve its infrastructure to include a detailed data warehouse with data marts to serve its marketing, finance and operations functions. Manulife Financial is a leading international mutual life insurance company headquartered in Toronto, Canada. Manulife offers a variety of insurance and investment products to individuals, families businesses, groups and associations. They chose Prism's ITERATIONS methodology to help establish an effective development process for building an investment reporting data warehouse. At the State of Michigan, the Family Independence Agency Services department selected Prism for a data warehouse that will track parents who are delinquent in child support payments. Prism's extensive data acquisition capabilities are critical, as the warehouse will gather and integrate information about employment history, past residences and motor vehicle licenses. This system will serve as a model for other states, with the goal of creating a nationwide system in the future. Founded in 1991, Prism Solutions, Inc. pioneered the data warehousing market to help companies understand, manage and use business information effectively. Today, Prism provides comprehensive solutions to deliver business intelligence applications. Prism's framework of development tools, application components, methodology, training and consulting allows companies to access all of the information they need to answer today's - and tomorrow's - critical business questions. Hundreds of organizations worldwide use Prism's products to enhance client relationships, improve risk management, increase profitability, expand market share and sharpen competitive advantage. In addition to its corporate headquarters in Sunnyvale, California, Prism has regional offices in seven U.S. cities and international offices in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Mexico, Singapore, Spain and the United Kingdom.
