Celebrity Report: "Magic" Puts Magic Number on Home Listing
by Blanche Evans
![]() L.A. Lakers legend "Magic" Johnson has his considerable wide-spread fingers on more than one ball in the air lately. Not only has the basketball star just debuted with his own television talk show, "The Magic Hour," less than six weeks ago, but he is also a successful real estate developer of multiplex theaters. Johnson, and his wife Cookie, have just listed their Beverly Hills home with Barbara Robinson with Dalton, Brown and Long Realtors, an eleven year-old firm specializing in fine properties. Offered at $7,932,000, the asking price includes Magic's famous "32" his uniform number when he played for the Lakers. Located in the gated community of Beverly Park, the home features nine bedrooms, workout room, media center, game room tennis court and a swimming pool. The Johnsons have owned the nine-bedroom, one-acre property since 1989 when it was purchased while under construction. All in the Line of Duty ![]() President Clinton is planning to vacation in Martha's Vineyard for the second year in a row. He and the first family are scheduled to arrive the weekend of August 15th for a two-week stay. The first family will stay once again in the private waterfront compound of Richard Friedman, a Boston real estate developer. The President's entourage of over 200 personnel will be placed in nearby rental homes on the island. The Secret Service advance team will arrive beforehand on or about August 1st. Real estate broker Linda Bassett, owner-manager of a Coldwell Banker office has said that she is working to locate as many as 50 rentals for the entourage. Summer is high season on Martha's Vineyard and the homes will command a premium of $1,500 to 5,000 a week. Because the popular vacation spot is booked up so far in advance, she plans to call residents she knows to talk them out of their of their homes for the duration. Adding more pressure to the situation, Bassett says that many of the homes won't be signed for rental until three or four days before tenants arrive as further protection for the President.
