Monica Lewinsky has moved out of her Watergate apartment without disclosing her new residence to the media. Before she departed, she sent letters to her Watergate neighbors apologizing for the "inconveniences" her notoriety has brought to the exclusive apartment building and its residents. Throngs of reporters have staked out the location for months on end during the Starr investigation of President Clinton.

Lewinsky's travails were not the first time the Watergate apartment building has been under scrutiny from the press. In 1972, the Democratic National Committee Headquarters were broken into by zealous GOP supporters in a scandal that ended by toppling the administration of President Richard M. Nixon. The Watergate has been a tourist attraction for that reason for over 25 years. The apartment buildings superb location, panoramic views and amenities are enough to continue to attract high-profile residents including Bob and Elizabeth Dole and Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Leona Helmsley Can Rent Rooms but She Sure Can't Sell Her Home

High on a mountaintop in Paradise Valley overlooking the sparkling city of Phoenix, Leona Helmsley's luxurious winter getaway has yet to find a buyer. Listed in the $22 million range, the 10-acre property has languished for a year. Reputed to have sad reminders for her, this is the home where her beloved hotel mogul husband Harry passed away a couple of years ago. Mrs. Helmsley is building another home in Florida. The estate, which includes a 36-foot waterfall, three swimming pools, including an indoor pool with an underwater sound system, and 24-karat gold faucets may have been overpriced for local and international buyers of the Christie's affiliate.

Elton John Uses Resident Status to Pull in Disney Premier

Elton John, who maintains homes in England and France, also has a domicile in Atlanta, Georgia, a city he picked for its hospitality. Using his resident's status to throw some of Atlanta's weight Disney's way, John managed to get Atlanta picked for the premiere of Disney's first original written-for-the-stage musical, "Elaborate Lives: The Legend of Aida." John composed the music and lyricist Tim Rice wrote the lyrics for the new stage presentation which will debut at Atlanta's Alliance Theater.
