Jumpstart 1999 with Ten Magic Strategies
by Joeann Fossland
What are the strategies you have in place for a great year in 1999? If you think "more," "harder," and "faster", you may be heading for burnout. By focusing on strategies, rather than just more action, you create a great framework to get creative in. A focused blitz of action to implement your strategies will then give your year a great start and build the momentum to attain the production and goals that are important to you this year. Strategy #1: Be Obvious! How can you increase your visibility and prominence? One action you could take: Call 100 people from your database or sphere of influence and ask for their email addresses. Strategy #2: Become More Systemized What part of your business have you systematized? Which need work or thought? One action you could take: Make a list of every part of your business and take one area per month to systemize or update. Strategy #3: Planning for the Renewal Time The day before vacation is said to be the most productive day of the year! The lesson is: to be more productive, take more vacations! But, seriously, your time off is an important part of feeling revved and excited when you are working. You’ll be more productive when you aren’t working without sufficient time off. Knowing you have the renewal time to look forward should allow you to be more focused when you are working. Work hard and PLAY hard this year. One action you could take: Plan now the time you will take as personal time and for vacations for the whole year. Strategy #4: Increase the number of people on your team. Building a great community of people around you will increase your value to clients and allow you to benefit through the synergy! One action you could take: Write a list of 12 new categories of strategic partners and go find people who fit in those categories or email me for a "Team 100" list of 100 different professions. Strategy #5: Use Email for Marketing If you haven’t started marketing by email, this is the time to start! Build your database and keep adding to it. One action you could take: Check out the free newsletter available here at the Real Times site! The price is right! Strategy #6: Update Your Skills with education Continually updating your skills is a necessity. Decide what education you are going to take to make you more professional. Is it time for a new designation? One action you could take: Look into the new Seniors Designation at http://www.seniorsrealestate.com Strategy #7: Nurture your spirit. Your goals and actions and business exist so you can live a life you love. Are you feeding your spirit and using your talents to their fullest? One action you could take: Spend at least 15 minutes a day in reflection, silence or gratitude for what you have? Quell the chatter to hear what’s really important Strategy #8: Be kind to your body Are you nourishing it and giving it the rest it deserves? You can’t give 100% to your business & customers, if you aren’t healthy. One action you could take: Get current with your doctor, your dentist and your eye doctor and any other preventative tests you may have been putting off. Strategy #9: Create a new habit each month You may have a habit to let go of or a new one to implement. Choose one each month and at the end of the year, you will have 12 new behaviors in place that support you in being your best One action you could take: Make a list of the 12 habits to either let go of or add in 1999. Choose one to begin today. Strategy #10: Enjoy The Ride! Life is a journey, not a destination. If you let go of all goals in 1999, but focused each day: on making it the best that it could be, doing excellently each task in front of you, getting enjoyment moment by moment, you would be creating a marvelous year. One action you could take: Make sure that each day, you have done something to be proud of and have acknowledged yourself for the difference you are making! Customize the strategies to fit with what is important to you. The suggested actions may give you some ideas but inside each strategy, there are lots of ways you can grow yourself and your business. Get a start today and build momentum in the first quarter. You’ll be glad you did! Published: February 2, 1999 Use of this article without permission is a violation of federal copyright laws.
