In last week's column, I wrote about how one can use
Dejanews to locate people actively searching to buy
a house on the Internet.
While the specific housing groups are quite important
to REALTORS, there are other newsgroups you should continue
to monitor. You never know where you'll be able to offer
advice and become the REALTOR of choice for the news poster.
Ted Kraus of Dealmakers.net
is one of the pioneers of Real estate and the Internet. He
created the very popular realtynet.* groups where fellow REALTORS
can network and post anything related to real estate. Some of
his groups include:
- realtynet.residential
- realtynet.general
- realtynet.east
- realtynet.south
An easy way to view the postings would be to visit Dejanews at
http://www.dejanews.com, click on the Power Search
set your forums to - realtynet.*
Set your "From date" to 03/20/99, and just click "Find."
If you leave the search field blank, it will just bring
up every article archived - over 2,800! You'll see not
only REALTORS posting about their available houses, but
also real estate vendors such as
BestImage.com, mortgage providers and more.
Other interesting groups for you to consider include the alt.building.*
hierarchy. Here, you'll find alt.building.realestate,alt.building.construction
and more.
And don't forget about alt.real-estate-agents and alt.realtor.relocation!
The above newsgroups are excellent tools for you to both advertise your
services, and also network with other agents. News can be a very valuable
means for you to increase your bottom line.
