A new hot-water circulating device has just been released to the marketplace
which delivers hot water to every tap in a residence's plumbing loop within
seconds. No more waiting for hot water for the showers, even in the busiest
family baths.
Just Right, the hot water device promises a never-ending stream of hot water
- no more waiting when you have dishes to do or showers to take. The company
maintains that the product is an asset for those who are just moving into or
selling their homes.
"Everyone loves the convenience of hot water at the tap," said Rob Nelson
of NIBCO INC., manufacturer of Just Right™. "Having
Just Right installed in a home that has just been purchased will enhance the
homeowner's enjoyment as well as save the household as much as 7,000 to 14,000
gallons of water per year, which can be a very important benefit in many areas
of the country."
"It is also an advantage for a home which is up for sale," adds Nelson. "It
is something you can quickly demonstrate as a benefit to prospective buyers."
Just Right is the invention of a century old company, NIBCO, which
specializes in flow-control products for residential and commercial
construction, industrial and irrigation markets.
How does it work? The unit uses convection to keep hot water rising and cold
water
falling within the plumbing loop, eliminating the customary wait for hot water
at the tap.
According to Nelson, homes with basements are an ideal setting for Just
Right, but the unit
will also work in structures on slabs or crawl spaces if the hot-water
line is situated above the water heater - not in the slab, according
to NIBCO.
Just Right, featured
in the November 1998 issue of Popular Science magazine, sells for about $65 and
can be installed in both new and existing homes. The device is non-mechanical
and uses no electricity, making it an innovative product for consumer use. One
caveat is that the system does depend on running a new return water line from
the tap farthest from the water heater, bringing a professional installation to
about $250. Just Right will also only work in a home in which the hot-water
line is above the water heater.
The product is generating some buzz among builders, remodelers and
homeowners as it continues to attract press coverage. In July, Just Right will
also be featured in Popular Mechanics, according to Nelson.
