Instructors to Hold Intensive Train-the-trainers Seminar

Nationally known real estate educators Dianna Brouthers and Roger Turcotte have scheduled a special three-day "train the trainers" seminar that they believe will help industry instructors sharpen their skills, and maybe even help them find new opportunities for what they already are doing.

According to Turcotte, real estate education - like the rest of the real estate business - is both booming and rapidly changing. New niches are opening for educators even as regulators are extending more control over what and how courses are being taught.

"For a long time now both Dianna and I have had instructors coming to us, asking 'How do I get into publishing,' 'How do I get into Internet training?' and even, 'I'm having trouble getting a course approved by my regulators and I'm not sure why.'

"So we're going to sit down for three days and go over a lot of things and talk about where some of these people want to be and how they are going to get there."

Turcotte said he and Brouthers will keep the T2K Real Estate Trainer 2000 seminar to 15 to 25 people in the hope of maximizing interaction and participation. The seminar will be held Oct. 11-13 at Kingston Plantation Resort in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The cost is about $2,000 per instructor.

"We've heard from people who have been in the business for a long time who looking expand what they're doing," Turcotte said. "But we've also heard from people who have just been appointed their company's trainer and are looking for some good tips."

One of the most important aspects of the seminar, however, is that it includes an hour of one-on-one personal consulting with Turcotte or Brouthers and 90 days of direct access to follow up the seminar.

"One of the things I always find is that people will hear something at a seminar but then can't get it to work when they get back home. If people are having that trouble, we want them to be sure to contact us so we can go over it again," Turcotte said. "We want to make sure they get the maximum value from this seminar."

Turcotte and Brouthers have each been real estate educators for more than a decade and both are active in the Real Estate Educator's Association.

They participated in the recent launch of the Internet training courses presented by Kaplan College School of Real Estate and have designed courses for Vermont Interactive Television, South Carolina Educational Television, and Member Direct Television.

They also developed the curriculum for the Certified Buyer Representative designation.

The seminar is sponsored by the College of Real Estate Inc. of South Carolina. More information about the seminar is at: www.collegeofrealestate.com
