eRealty.com announces the appointment of George C. Stephens as its new director of compliance. Stephens, who brings more than 25 years of experience to the position, is a national real estate writer and holds leadership positions in local and state real estate associations.

As director of compliance, he will be responsible for eRealty's compliance with federal, state and local real estate regulations, as well as guidelines in all of the company's current and future U.S. metro markets.

Stephens, a former member of eRealty's corporate board, currently serves as secretary of the Texas Association of Realtors(R) (TAR) and is the organization's chairman-elect for 2002. Stephens has also been a distinguished member of the National Association of Realtors(R) (NAR), Women's Council of Realtors, the Texas Real Estate Teachers Association and served as the 1998 Chairman of the Houston Association of Realtors(R) (HAR).

Stephens writes several columns for the real estate community, including "Realty Tech Talk" and "Ask George," which appear in Realty Times, Houston Chronicle and on www.TexasRealEstate.com. He contributes monthly to RECONIS and the HAR Network magazine, and periodically to Texas Realtor magazine.

He was an instructor for the Spencer School of Real Estate and served as the school's contracts department chair. Stephens was a member of America Online's Real Estate Desk Advisory Board and served as one of the hosts for "Ask the Broker." In 1977, he was a founding partner of a firm handling commercial real estate and property tax consulting. In 1979, he became the firm's broker of record.

eRealty currently operates in Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, Northern Virginia, Southern California and Washington, D.C.
