Near Seattle, Puget Sound communities are showing about a 10 percent increase in housing market activity over last year.
"The market in the Seattle area is continuing to be active with market activity up 10 percent from last year at this time according to Northwest Multiple Listing Service," says Realtor Danny B. Hansen. "The average price is in the $250,000 to $300,000 range with plenty of homes available in the lower ranges as well. Our area is continuing to grow despite recent layoffs at the Boeing Company."
Federal Way
Federal Way is a growing area with many conveniences available and easy access to either Seattle or Tacoma," says Hansen. "As with other Puget Sound areas, Federal Way has enjoyed an increase in market activity of about 10 percent this year. Lots of great areas with choices of new construction and established neighborhoods from which to choose.
Kent
"Located southeast of Metropolitan Seattle with access to all major transportation and freeways," says Hansen, "Kent has lots of established neighborhoods and loads of new homes and development going on. There are lots of opportunities in the Kent area to purchase new construction or to buy in established neighborhoods.
Also, there is a lot of farm property in the area. Located closer to the foothills of the Cascades and Mt. Rainier, Kent also has many recreational opportunities available.
Bremerton
"Bremerton is located across from Seattle on Puget Sound," explains Realtor Jim P. Harris. "During WWII, the area was a large shipbuilding complex with Puget Sound Naval Shipyard the major employer. Today, Bremerton still is associated with the shipyard, but it is quickly becoming more cosmopolitan with a makeover of downtown underway.
"With prices about one-third of what you would pay in Seattle, located just about an hour away, homes are appreciating. The number of homes available is also dwindling as the market becomes a sellers market. The area is being revitalized and as it does, property values are expected to increase even more. The new highspeed ferry to Seattle will also help this trend."
