Cyber Conference Planners Hope For Repeat Success

Following the success of the first online technology convention for the real estate industry in April, The Real Estate CyberSpace Society is offering a no-cost Fall Convention Session which is open to all real estate professionals.

The National Real Estate On-Line Convention and Exposition fall conference will feature three national speakers and new topics - Stephen Canale: "Today's Big Technology Picks," Pat Zaby, "Using the Internet to Boost Productivity"; and Matthew Ferrara: "Viruses, Hackers, Spam and Other Ugly Things."

Also featured will be 182 booths at the Expo displaying the very latest performance-enhancing products, all on the Internet! Exhibitors will also give thousands of dollars in prizes away.

“All of the door prizes will be indexed at the Expo, so visitors can be at any drawing they choose with one click," explains John Peckham, the Society's executive director. "Many new exhibitors have been added since the main April event, and many have updated their show specials and offerings.”

Peckham says that the fall convention, along with future seasonal sessions, resulted from requests by real estate professionals those who were unable to attend April’s main event, along with others looking for the opportunity to qualify for the Society’s RECS (Real Estate CyberSpace Specialist) designation. Listening to all three featured speakers will help qualify interested attendees to become members of the Society.

Attendance at the spring conference was approximately 20,000, close to the same number that the National Association of Realtors got for its hard floor annual convention. Peckham says that last year's conferences were down overall because of the September 11 2001 terrorist attacks which impacted travel.

"We're tracking technology conferences and sales conferences, and they are ranging from $395 to $1,995 to attend," says Peckham. "We are going to put up a grid, to show the costs when we finish our research. The cost to attend our conference is zero."

The virtual nature of the convention also makes it easy for Peckham to provide mini-versions of the main convention seasonally.

"The seasonal conferences are mini-versions of our annual convention," explains Peckham. "We wanted to simply give a little taste of what the annual convention is like. It gives people the ability to come in and listen to three speakers with all new material, and we rotate the people who spoke at the annual convention and make them available for the seasonal convention for the people who couldn't be there last year."

He concludes, "People go to conventions for four reasons - to listen to speakers, to see new products, network and have fun. The only things missing will be out of pocket costs and time away from home! No airfare. No hotel bills. No lost shoe leather. No aching muscles, travel hassle or registration fees! This is truly a one-click fall convention!”
